Nescafé Dolce Gusto Espresso 16 Capsules (Pack of 3, Total 48 Capsules)

By far my favourite coffee of the samples that came with my Dolce Gusto Circolo machine*. It fills the room with its lovely aroma, the kind of aroma that makes your mouth salivate with thoughts of eggs and bacon and hot buttered toast. I love that I can make it as weak or strong as I like and it still tastes good. I usually add it to a mug of warm milk to make a latte. As the Espresso does not come with milk capsules, it is much better value than other flavours, as you get double drinks for your money.

De'Longhi ICM40 Front Loading Filter Coffee Machine Digital

We totally love this coffee machine, apart from the fact that it looks great and it really is super stylish. Truthfully it was the design that first attracted us to the machine, but it has the added bonus of a timer which is invaluable and since it automatically turns itself off after a certain period, it means you no longer have those panic moments mid morning wondering if you've turned the coffee machine off.

Other machines we've had have had poorly designed jugs and you lose half of the coffee until you've mastered the secret art of pouring. This jug pours beautifully without having to work out what the secret is to pouring and without getting half of it over the yourself or the worktop.
I honestly couldn't recommend it highly enough, we totally love it, it makes great coffee and it's great value for money.

Can't disagree more with the other reviews - I love the machine.

The machine brews good coffee, I've had a couple of different blends in there and they all taste fine. There is a taste of plastic on the first brew, but if you flush the machines out 3 times as stated in the instructions it tastes OK. I went a little further and ran a brew with just water through the machine twice, then filled the tank with water and a little lemon juice (you know how lemon kills microwave smells etc...), let the water stand in the tank for an hour, then ran the lemon-juice/water mix through as a brew. Use proper lemon juice, not some lemon flavoured essence or whatever. I can't taste any plastic at all now.

But, most importantly - it keeps the coffee HOT HOT HOT for hours. There is a two-hour auto shut-off (which can't be disabled as far as I know) but if you switch the machine back on it re-heats the coffee soon enough. My old machine had a small hotplate and the coffee would go luke-warm after an hour or so and I used to hate that. The size of the plate on this machine is much bigger and the entire base of the jug sits on the plate (as opposed to some machines where just the middle of the jug sits on the base). This morphy richards model is much better than my last machine.

Two slight critisms. First, filling the tank is tricky - the opening is at the rear of the unit and the gap isn't very wide. Use the supplied jug and pour slow. Also, be careful condensation doesn't run down the back of the unit when you lift the lid while the unit is still hot. Second critism is that it comes out the box with a big transfer sticker on the front above the buttons and by the clock - this sticker covers the front of the unit and although it peels off OK leaves a mark which might take a while to fully get off.

Although the products themselves were what i expected and looked good i was really disappointed with the packaging. I'd bought the set as a gift and expected it to come nicely presented, and it didn't it was all wrapped carefully in brown card etc but i then had to redo it all to make it look like a decent gift.

Looking For an Espresso Coffee Machine Or a Filter Coffee Maker?

Looking For an Espresso Coffee Machine Or a Filter Coffee Maker?

By Brian Potter

It takes some time to look for the best coffee machine and then best coffee too that will give you that rich and satisfying taste to match that mouth watering aroma we get from coffee being ground or fresh coffee being brewed.

Buy a good coffee machine, there are many to choose from so you should ensure that you do some research before you buy, get yourself up to date with the benefits and the features for each of them.

With so many different coffee makers available there are difficult choices to make but keep it in perspective, for domestic use you really don't need the all "bells and whistles" machines that you'll find in commercial kitchens and coffee bars.

Obviously you will have cost in mind and it is important too that you consider the space you have available to accommodate your choice, OK so the bigger the machine the more cups it can produce with one fill of the reservoir but no point in buying that huge machine if it's not going to fit in your kitchen.

Another choice you are going to have to make is whether you prefer a filter coffee maker with a jug that keeps the coffee warm by sitting on a hotplate or an espresso coffee machine

With an espresso machine there are inbuilt thermostats for controlling the water and steam pressures so that your espresso or cappuccino is always at the perfect temperature.

Espresso machines offer a swivel jet milk frother that gives cappuccino, latte or any other frothy milk beverage that frothy creamy looking top.

They have removable water tanks you can fill right from the sink and keeping the tank itself clean is really easy a removable drip tray also lends itself to easy, hassle-free, cleaning too.

Espresso is a concentrated coffee beverage and is brewed by forcing hot water under pressure through the finely ground coffee., espresso often has a thicker consistency than the ordinary filter coffee.

Because of the pressurized brewing process, all of the flavors and chemicals in a typical cup of espresso coffee will be very concentrated and because of this espresso is used as the base for other coffee drinks, such as lattes, cappuccino, macchiato and mochas.

Of course it depends on your own individual taste but if you want some form of recommendation my advice and I love coffee, would be to go for the espresso maker.

Once you are decided on the machine you want to buy remember that the coffee that you buy for the filter coffee machine may not be right for an espresso machine.

You'll need finely ground coffee for the best espresso so again you will need to search around the stores and find finely ground coffee together with the strength of ground coffee or coffee bean that you prefer.

So look around and see what you can find, there are some really great machines on the market today, my preference? Well I'm hung up on the DeLonghi and Gaggia range of machines and you can find more information on these as well as some good advice on coffee in general at my website, goodcoffeeclub.com
